Reading
Reading is one of the most important skills children learn at home. Parents and carers can play an essential role in fostering a lifelong love of reading in children and an interest in books that will give them a strong foundation for their future.
We encourage children to be reading at home at least 3 times a week – every day if possible. Sharing a book together with your child gives you the opportunity to escape into another world together and can be bonding and relaxing. We advise that all children read for at least 10 minutes a day. Ideally, 20 minutes a day would be the most beneficial. Every child has a Reading Record book to record what they have been reading. Our expectation is that they read at least 3 times a week as part of their weekly homework. If your child has not read at home we will provide them with time in school to complete this part of their homework.
Physical Education
PE will be on Mondays. Children should attend school in their PE kit on PE day. Your child’s PE kit should consist of a white t-shirt, black shorts/joggers and pumps/trainers. Earrings are not to be worn for PE. If children have earrings in they need to be removed by themselves. Members of staff CAN NOT remove earrings due to health and safety. Hair needs to be tied up. On Friday the children go swimming.
Homework
Maths and spelling homework will be given to the children every Friday. This needs to be completed by the following Thursday. If homework has not been completed we will provide the children with time in school to do this.
